Klingbrief Editorial Board Self-Nominations

The Klingbrief Editorial Board is currently accepting nominations for new editors. Through an application process, the board seeks candidates who bring fresh perspectives that will help Klingbrief grow and meet the needs of our readers. The board values increasing the diversity of voices across a variety of identities, geographies, professional experiences, and school types.

About Klingbrief

Klingbrief provides busy educators with a carefully-curated set of thought-provoking readings selected to support individual growth, spark essential conversations with colleagues, and inform decision-making in the classroom and across the school. Delivered monthly during the academic year, Klingbrief is created by independent school educators to support the global education community by providing resources that address both foundational questions of education and emerging challenges and opportunities facing educators today.

Editor Job Description

Members of the Klingbrief Editorial Board have two regular responsibilities. First, editors are expected to contribute reviews to the publication four times each academic year, reviewing relevant and compelling books, articles, podcasts, or other online resources that they have encountered in their own professional learning practice. Second, editors engage in a review process to select which of the month’s submissions will be published in the newsletter, giving consideration to relevance of the material and quality of the review. Additionally, editors encourage others to subscribe and to submit to Klingbrief. Editors steer the publication, evaluating how well Klingbrief responds to the needs of educators and ensuring Klingbrief accomplishes its mission.

Qualifications

Klingbrief editors are voracious readers and enthusiastic learners who are engaged with the craft of writing. They are connected to the independent and international school community. They are curious about trends in education and seek ways to create connections in and across schools that enable educators to learn together. They are comfortable evaluating written work across a variety of topics and collaborating with a team

Self-Nomination Process

Candidates who are interested in joining the Klingbrief Editorial Board should self-nominate no later than February 1, 2023. The self nomination process includes a self-nomination questionnaire, a resume, and two Klingbrief reviews. These reviews should meet all criteria of the submission guidelines and be suitable for publication in the spring of 2023. Candidates’ work may be published in Klingbrief; please note that publication of a nominee’s submissions does not guarantee selection for editorial board membership. Candidates will be informed of the outcome of their self-nomination in April.
