Patricia M. Burns: Patricia (Pat) is a founder of San Miguel Academy, an independent, all-boys, middle school located in the City of Newburgh, NY. She researched and authored the feasibility study, which ushered in the school's start-up in 2006. Pat played a pivotal role in the school's financial planning, advancement, curriculum design and strategic partnership development. She held numerous positions at the school and served on both the Executive and Finance Committees of the Board of Trustees. Prior to starting San Miguel Academy, Pat taught high school mathematics at both public and private high schools. With an MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business, she also worked in the banking and financial services sector for more than a decade. Pat decided to combine her finance experience with her educational interests and completed her Doctorate in Mathematics Education/Independent School Leadership from Teachers College. She is also a Klingenstein alumna. Pat’s current research interests include enrollment trends in independent schools together with population trends for school-age children.
