The department chair role in a school is a unique leadership opportunity. It can be rewarding – and it can be a bear. You’ve moved from teaching or grade-level curriculum work into the department chair role because you showed deep capacity as a teacher. Yet leading a department requires different leadership skills, tools, and capacities. Join Nicole Furlonge and a dynamic group of department chair colleagues in this workshop that will help you hone in on those skills and tools so that you can build capacity in your practice. We’ll draw on cultural materials – hint: the show The Bear is one of them! – as we look for ideas and inspiration about leadership in different spaces other than school. Whether you are new to department chairship or a seasoned veteran, you’ll find something of use in this experience as you learn alongside other department chairs. Note: no prior knowledge of The Bear is necessary!
This session will meet via Zoom on Monday, July 21 and Tuesday, July 22, 9:00am - 1:00pm ET
Registration Fee: $550
