WELCOME TO THE BIG APPLE!

The resources of Columbia University and New York City are a remarkable benefit to Klingenstein Center students. In addition to studying at one of the finest schools of education in the world, you have the resources of this extraordinary city at your disposal.

Housing

Teachers College offers affordable housing options within one block of the campus. For convenience, many Klingenstein students elect to live on campus. Others elect to reside off-campus with friends or family, sublet an apartment, or use short-term rental options like Airbnb.

Summer 2026 Housing
Students attending the Two-Summers Master's Degree Program or the Ed.D. ExecLead Program in Summer 2026 should be aware that the FIFA World Cup will impact off-campus accommodations. We recommend security housing as soon as possible. To assist, here are a few options to consider:

Neighborhood

Teachers College is located in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. Residents enjoy easy access to parks with Riverside Park, Morningside Park, and Central Park nearby. Columbia campus is bordered by Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue, both of which offer a variety of restaurants, shops, and services. Some of the landmarks in the neighborhood include the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, Grant's Tomb, Tom's Restaurant and, of course, Columbia University.  Checkout Barnard College's "A Day in Morningside Heights" for some of the highlights of the neighborhood.

Transportation

The New York City Subway system's 1 train has stops at 125th Street and 116th Streets. Columbia is also served by the M4, M11, M104, and M60 buses. Additionally, Columbia University runs a free intercampus bus system which includes a stop at the 125th Street Metro North train station and for commuters.
