Michael Chapman (he/him) is overjoyed to serve as co-Director and co-lead science teacher for the Klingenstein Summer Institute. He is currently the Dean of Teaching and Learning and science teacher at the Upper School of Buckingham Browne & Nichols School, a PK-12 school in Cambridge, MA. During his educational tenure, Michael has taught various levels of biology and chemistry at the middle and high school levels, coordinated service learning and orientation programs. He also serves on the Board of Trustees at the Winchendon School. Originally from Hampton, VA, Michael received his BA and MA from the University of Virginia, and completed his M.Ed in independent school leadership through the Klingenstein Center's Leadership Academy. A KSI alum himself, Michael cares deeply about education, particularly enjoying reading about the intersection of cognitive science and education, innovative teaching practices, and how diversity and equity can inform science education. When not in the world of school, you can find Michael being a foodie with friends, listening to true crime and investigative podcasts, and going on walks with his dog, Einstein.
