Erika Drezner (she/her) is thrilled to co-teach the English Discipline Group alongside Shelby Stokes. While she has over 25 years of teaching experience in multiple independent school settings (boarding and day, middle and upper), she currently chairs the Upper School English department, co-teaches American Studies, advises the literary magazine, and co-facilitates the White Anti-Racism Educators group at The Berkeley Carroll School in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY. This fall, she will be stepping away from English Chair and directing the Civic Collaborative at Berkeley Carroll, an initiative designed to support deep listening and understanding across differences. Her BA is from Carleton College and her MA from Middlebury’s Bread Loaf School of English. An avid birder who grew up among woods and streams in Ithaca, NY, Erika needs a few trees and some sky every day and finds them by walking to work through Prospect Park and hiking outside the city on weekends with her husband and son. It’s possible that Storm King Art Center is her favorite place on Earth. She would love to nerd out with you about birds, destination eating, pedagogical collaboration, or curriculum design!
